My Dads Big Day
In 2009 something un- expected happened, my Dad got married and I wasn’t there.
When he told me that he had met someone else and was going to live with her I was very upset. I had gotten very attached to his previous girlfriend and was un- willing to except what was happening. I acted poorly and decided I could not face going to the original wedding as I felt it was disrespectful to my Dad’s previous girlfriend, whom I had loved so dearly.
However, after a while I realised that I could not change what had happened, and I no longer wanted to. I could see that Dad loved Cristina and most importantly she loved him. So in 2009 when they wanted to re new their vows in a Romanian service, I made the decision to go and in a bid to try to make it up to them I wanted to take their photos. So what you see below is probably the hardest shoot to date I have done. It was a day full of all different emotions, but also the mark of something new and the day I realised that I loved my new Stepmother, and wanted to form a better relationship with her.
I’m happy to announce that they are still very much married and in love, and me and Cristina have our own special relationship which is always getting stronger.
The wedding was a small ceremony with just family and close friends. They had the blessing in a very traditional church then had a party back at their house. With the photographs I wanted them to be very natural and full of emotion, and show the sense of fun and family tradition that the day had.
Congratulations Mr and Mrs Thatcher!
