A Wedding and a Reunion

In November 2012 something really special happened for me. My Uncle Christopher asked me to photograph his wedding. This meant so much to me for many reasons. Firstly, my Mum’s family aren’t very good at keeping in touch, it was only a couple of years ago that I reconnected with my Auntie. I hadn’t seen my Uncle for about seven years, so to be asked to photograph his special day meant a lot to me. Not only would I get to meet him again, but I would also get to share his big day.

Secondly, my Uncle is quite a private person. The wedding was very small and he only told my Grandparents a few weeks before the ceremony so it was special that he wanted me there.

Considering this is the smallest wedding that I have photographed, it was possibly the hardest. My Uncle and his Bride Fiona were both quite shy around the camera and weren’t really into posing so I really had to blend into the background and try to catch candid shots of them, which I think ended up really suiting the couple and the day.

The wedding was held at Guildford registry office, which was a small yet beautiful place, except the exterior was having work done on it so I had to take the shots in a very careful place outside. I didn’t take any shots at the reception this time as my Uncle only really wanted shots at the ceremony and the reception gave me a chance to get to know my new family.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Mason
